The International Cricket Council (ICC) is all set to confirm how teams will qualify for cricket at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics during its Annual Conference in Singapore from July 17 to 20. Cricket is making a return to the Olympics after more than a century, and only six men’s and six women’s teams will participate.
The qualification system could rely on T20I rankings, a dedicated qualification event, or results from the 2026 T20 World Cup. The conference will also review whether the USA, as host, should receive an automatic spot, along with minimum age regulations for Olympic athletes.
Other decisions expected include whether West Indies and Great Britain will field unified teams for the Olympics. Additionally, a mobile cricket video game is also on the agenda.
The ICC will finalize how teams qualify for cricket at the LA28 Olympics this month. Options include rankings, a separate qualifier, or the 2026 T20 World Cup. Also up for discussion: host spot for USA, age limits, unified teams, and a mobile game.
