The pilot aims to evaluate the feasibility, security, and efficiency of a digital rupee, potentially paving the way for modernizing Pakistan’s payment systems and enhancing financial inclusion.

Pakistan will work with Japan’s Soramitsu to launch a Central Bank Digital Currency pilot in 2025.
